Notifications

Notifications are messages inside Kadenio for shop staff, not for customers. They tell the shop owner about workshop activity: a repair has been checked in, or a repair is ready for pickup. You find them under the bell in the header and on the Notifications page, and a copy can also be sent to your email.

Key concepts

Concept Meaning
Notification A short message with a title, a text and a link to the screen it is about.
Unread A notification you have not opened yet. The bell shows how many there are.
Shop The type of all notifications today (shop activity).
Email copy An email with the same message and an Open in Kadenio button.

What creates a notification

Notifications are written in the shop's language at the moment they are created.

When Title Text
A repair is checked in "Repair {number} checked in" "A new repair job is ready for review."
A repair is set to Ready for pickup "Repair {number} ready" "The repair job is ready for customer pickup."

Both link to Workshop.

How to read notifications from the header

  1. Select the bell in the header. It shows the number of unread notifications and the latest 20 notifications. The list updates by itself about every 30 seconds.
  2. Select a notification. It is marked as read and the linked screen opens.
  3. Select Mark all read to clear the count, or open the full page.

How to use the Notifications page

  1. Open Notifications ("Keep up with important shop activity.").
  2. Filter by Type (All or Shop), and switch on Unread only if you only want unread ones (the page then shows Showing unread). Notifications are grouped under Today, Yesterday and Earlier.
  3. Select a notification to mark it read and open its screen, or select Mark all read.

When there is nothing to show you see "You’re all caught up." and "New shop activity will appear here."

How to change email preferences

  1. Open Settings → Email and scroll to Notification preferences ("Choose which important shop updates reach you in the notification center and by email.").
  2. Under Email notifications, switch Email updates (the main switch) and Shop emails ("Organization and account activity updates.") on or off.
  3. Select Save notification preferences. You see "Notification preferences updated."

"Critical account and shop emails always remain enabled."

Rules to know

  • You only see your own notifications for the shop you are working in.
  • The same event never creates two notifications, even if a repair is saved twice.
  • Email copies go only to active accounts with an email address, and only when both Email updates and Shop emails are on.
  • Changing the shop language later does not translate notifications that already exist.

What happens next

  • When a repair is checked in or is ready, the owner gets a notification straight away.
  • If email copies are on, the owner also gets an email titled "Kadenio · {title}" with an Open in Kadenio button, in the shop's language.
  • If you switch email copies off before an email has gone out, it is not sent.

Not available in this version

  • Notifications for managers or other staff (only the owner receives them).
  • Notifications or text messages to customers.
  • Browser or phone push notifications.
